30 April 2012

Photos from bed, where I've been pretty much all weekend bar a pretty intense seven and a half hour shift at work on Saturday night. I've been feeling a little under the weather and down in the dumps so I decided to use it as a good excuse to sleep a lot and start doing some productive work - as I tweeted last night in the early hours of the morning, "Bad moods inspire good writing". I'm still unsure as to whether I'll share my fiction with you as I always worry that it isn't very good. But I've almost finished one short story and I have a tutorial tomorrow to find out what teach thinks. Two more to go, along with a big essay and some other writing that I'm just doing for personal gain.

I think the R&R was probably deserved after a somewhat hectic week. Instead of my seminar on Wednesday, Sophie and I took a trip to Meadowhall but as we had woken up so early we had shopped, dined at La Tasca and drank a jug of Sangria before two o clock. This prompted a surprise trip to Leeds where I met some of Sophie's friends from back home in Whitby - who are lovely. We drank until the last train home which we caught in a bit of a whirl. I'm heading back to Leeds again this weekend for a bit of a party/weekend bender. Fingers crossed I'll make it out alive!

Meeting Sophie, Nathan and his friend Josh in town soon for a drink and to watch them skate around. I have work at 7 so maybe I'll favour coffee over a pint. Although if somebody suggests the pub I can't say I'll be turning them down.

dressed up to the eyes
it's a wonderful surprise
to see your shoes and your spirits rise
throwing out your frown
and just smiling at the sound
and as sleek as a shriek
spinning round and round
always take a big bite
it's such a gorgeous sight
to see you in the middle of the night
you can never get enough
enough of this stuff
it's friday
I'm in love

Searching for inspiration to write three 1500 word stories.
Maybe?

I'll keep you all posted on how I do/when I do one. Thought I'd cheat and put up one I've already done, but it gives me a little kick start. I think I'm allowed. Also the intention is to manage it again so we'll see what happens. I feel so inspired right now, I think I might write a story. Last night was incredible, there was some amazing talent at Tiki Sessions and the company was lovely. I've spent today in a big bubble, loving my life to pieces - I haven't felt this on top of the world in forever.

18 April 2012

Finally got around to posting a new look. Had to show off my new favourite pair of shorts - don't you just love it when you find a pair that fit just right. Also if any of you are on lookbook I'd be more than happy to check yours out, I get a lot of my inspiration from browsing through and seeing how everybody else is dressing.

Only a quick post as I'm dashing off to buy hamster food, pick up my photos, grab a drink with Sophie and Nat, then head to Nottingham for Dan's leaving gig. </3

16 April 2012

I was going to take a few shots of my outfit today but I couldn't find the right light so you'll have to make do with one of my miserable face. I love love love my new earring from Syd and Mallory. It's a shame I can't wear the pair, but that's what you get for stretching one ear I suppose. So damn kooky.

Uni this morning was lovely, it feels quite strange to enjoy a seminar as much as I do children's literature. We were studying an old favourite of mine today, Noughts and Crosses. Always fun to revisit something you loved as a child. After uni was finished I nipped into Boots to get a disposable from a few months ago developed. To save a few quid I have to wait for a couple of days to pick them up but as I've waited this long I figured it would be okay. Hopefully they'll turn out nice. Three hour shift tonight, then four tomorrow - I wish I was seeing the benefit of all of this hard earning </3

15 April 2012

I can't believe I'm back at uni tomorrow, this Easter break has gone so fast. Had a wonderful time seeing lots of people I miss terribly when I'm here in Sheffield. The snaps are from Rescue Rooms last saturday which was one of the best nights out I've had in a very long time, my favourite girls and I reunited and all together for one night only. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to see people as much as I wish I could have as I still had to work in Sheffield twice a week, but summer will be here soon enough where I'll get much more quality time with everyone. A few days in Dorset with my grandparents and catching up with a very dear friend who's skipping off to Greece for six months made my little holiday even more special and wonderful. I'm a lucky girl to be surrounded by such lovely people.

On the plus side, being back in Sheffield means a ton of dates with my northern roughs. I'm starting to get really excited about the new house in July, just need to find a second job pronto to fund it. With three weeks left in uni I'll have plenty of time to do it. Fingers crossed that means I'll be able to go to Latitude with my Nottingham gang too. The line up is insane this year.

4 April 2012

My review of the Joan Baez concert at Sheffield City Hall has made it into this month's issue of Now Then, one of the free magazines you can pick up around the city.

I love free magazines, especially this one, so I'm super excited to have been featured. Funnily enough one of my creative writing tutors at uni, Dean Lilleyman, has submitted a short story this month too which is a great read too. He's once again inspired me to write twisted stories which I'll not only submit for uni but keep in my portfolio - they'll make a freelance writer out of me yet.

I've decided to stay in Sheffield this evening and head back to Nottingham on the first train tomorrow morning. I have a coffee date planned with a couple of close friends then I'm going to spend the rest of the day with my lovely mother, shopping, drinking tea or something else wonderful. Can't wait, can't wait.

3 April 2012

Monday night Corporation last night with the boys. Didn't really drink though on account of babysitting Nathan's very drunk friends. Today calls a trip to Meadowhall, before I start yoyo-ing between Sheffield and Nottingham for Easter. Loans have come through so I might treat myself a little, see what the high-street shops have to offer. Excited for a coffee and a Krispy Kreme, trying on lots of pairs of shoes I can't afford and wandering around for hours. I am the queen of window shopping, even when I do have a little cash.
